Can someone please tell me how 2-(2-chlorophenyl)acetyl chloride is made? Could I react phenylacetic acid with chlorine to get 2-chloroacetic acid and react that with phosgene or thionyl chloride to get the end product?Is there a better,easier method? preferably one that doesnt involve vacuum...- Walt jr.

QuestionCan someone please tell me how 2-(2-chlorophenyl)acetyl chloride is made? I was thinking about reacting chlorobenzene with chloroacetic acid to make 2-chloroacetic acid and then react that with phosgene or Thionyl chloride to make the end product but i would have to distil the 2-chloroacetic...- Walt jr.
